The California Youth Soccer Association, Cal North, is pleased to announce Marley Wilson as its new Executive Director. Wilson has more than two decades of experience working in youth soccer coaching and administration, including several years of leadership in the western United States and at the National level that he will bring to his position with Cal North.

The California Department of Public Health on December 14th, 2020 issued guidelines for youth sports (pdf). Based on the information contained in the guidelines, California aims to reassess the return-to-competition by January 4th, with January 25th, as the earliest possible start date for inter-team competition. In addition to these key dates, the guidelines also cover a range of topics to assist in future planning, including Sports Risk Profiles that classify different sports by their level of contact and transmission risk, and a new four-tiered system to identify sports by the level of contact and risk.
We are very happy to announce that we are now accepting rule change proposals. Based on our democratic governance model, member organizations are entitled to submit proposed changes to the Cal North Constitution, Bylaws, General Procedures, and Specific Rules. Proposals will be voted on by Cal North affiliated members next spring at the Cal North Annual General Meeting. This is your opportunity to make a direct impact on how Cal North works.
Sports programming in our children’s lives is of vast importance. Athletics plays a critical role in a child's development, socially, emotionally, and physically. The current pandemic has presented many challenges, but we hope that these resources will help our membership adapt to the socially-distanced environment we live in today. The pandemic has certainly forced us to discover new ways to add value to players and families, and you may find that these value-adds are worth keeping even after the pandemic passes.
Since our inception in 1969 our mission has been to make soccer the preeminent game in California, and this includes bringing the game to all communities including those who are disabled and underrepresented. We hope to encourage you to participate in two amazing opportunities this month, (1) The Women In Soccer Summit and (2) US Disability Soccer Month. Both events are free and interactive.

We have all been challenged with finding ways to navigate through our daily activities during the COVID-19 era. Restrictions have made it impossible or impractical to return to normal soccer activities including games, practices, and training.
We are very proud to announce the launch of our new College Advisory Program that will provide fact based guidance and advice for high school aged students and parents. The College Advisory Program was developed to help families successfully navigate the college application process, from the initial research stage all the way through to signing a letter of commitment with the right college fit.
