Hey, I'm Javier Arellano. I was born and raised in Guanajuato, Mexico and at the age of 6 my family and I moved to the United States. I've been playing soccer since I can remember. I am a former Division II student-athlete having played at Metropolitan State University of Denver. I enjoy an active lifestyle spending time outdoors, working out and also like cooking and reading.
I’m a U.S. Soccer Coach Educator and currently hold a USSF A License and a United Soccer Coaches Premier Diploma. I serve as the Technical Director of the Young Olympians Program and a State ODP Coach with Cal North.I grew up in Sandpoint, Idaho, and started playing soccer when I was about six years old. I went on to play collegiately at North Idaho College before transferring to Portland State University, where I studied Biology and Geology and began my coaching journey. I also hold a Master’s Degree in Education with a focus on curriculum design and assessment. Throughout my career, I’ve worked across many levels of youth soccer, including roles with the New York Red Bulls, Sacramento Republic FC, and several MLS Next and NPL programs. I have a deep passion for coaching education and truly enjoy the camaraderie that comes with working alongside fellow coaches who are committed to learning and growth. I’m especially driven by the opportunity to support others in creating meaningful, player-centered learning environments.

Favorite Youth Soccer Memory: Too many to mention!
Having been born in the North Bay, I am excited to reconnect with the Northern California Soccer Community. My love for the game started when I was too young to play club, but was allowed to practice with my older brother. Then, after a few years of playing, I watched my first World Cup on a UHF channel in Spanish; Mexico '86! This sealed the deal for my love of “the beautiful game.” I have had the privilege of playing at levels that took me across the pond and all over the U.S. When my playing days were coming to an end, I focused my passion on the coaching and business sides. I have my B license, & have been fortunate enough to work with many great people and companies all in the pursuit of growing our sport.

I was born and raised in Northern California and have been a multi-sport athlete my entire life, with soccer being my greatest passion. I have coached at the recreational, competitive club, and high school levels, and currently hold a U.S. Soccer Federation C License while pursuing my B License. I am also on track to become a U.S. Soccer Grassroots Coach Educator prior to the Fall 2026 season.
I graduated from California State University, Sacramento with a degree in Kinesiology and remain committed to lifelong learning within the game. Whether through coaching education, player development, or studying the sport, my goal is to continually grow and help create the best possible learning environment for every player I have the opportunity to coach.

I began when my son played as a youth and ran the local school soccer club. I became involved then as a board member of the Fresno Junior Soccer League, then was elected District Commissioner to the CYSA Board of Directors. I held that position for 20+ years. After retiring from that and when this part-time position became available again in our District Office, I decided to take it and have been here ever since.
