The Game Day Facilitator will oversee recreational youth soccer matches to make sure there is a safe, fair and enjoyable soccer environment for players, coaches and spectators.
Following completion of the required Cal North curriculum, the Game Day Facilitator will be assigned by their (club, league or district) to participate in the management of recreational games using applicable Laws of the Game and Cal North game-day policies. Prior to each match the organization of the home team will provide the Game Day Facilitator with a pinnie to identify the Game Day Facilitator to the teams and with an electronic whistle (if available) to aid in managing the match. Proof of Game Day Facilitator risk management clearance will be readily available for the game participants to view to ensure fair play and safety before, during and after the match will be the primary function of the Game Day Facilitator.
A Game Day Facilitator has to be at least 13 years old. However if over the age of 18, you must complete your risk management requirements.
Age 18 and older must complete “Live Scan, Safesport, Background Check, and Intro to Safety ” This ensures safety for players, parents, coaches and referees.
If under 18 years old, please complete Minor Team Official Registration and Risk Management Disclosure (Form 1660)
No formal uniform is required. On the day of the game, a coach will provide a pinnie. If available, the coach may also provide an electronic whistle.
If you prefer to bring your own whistle (electronic or standard), they can be purchased at common retailers such as Dick’s Sporting Goods or Amazon. Pinnies will already be available with the coaches.
Each host will offer their own incentives to do this program.

Policy 531-8—Assignment of Game Officials Section “Unregistered Referee in Emergency If, because of unforeseen circumstances, a currently registered referee is unable to officiate or does not appear for an assigned match, a person may then be designated at match time to act as referee in the emergency for that one match.
