The schedule has been announced for the opening weekend of the 2012-2013 US Youth Soccer National League season as the boys gather Nov. 15-18 at Wilson Gillette Soccer Complex, Barton College and Fike High School in Wilson, N.C. National League Girls will kick off two weeks later, Nov. 29-Dec. 2. Games will be played in conjunction with the CASL Showcase, creating another significant opportunity for the nation's collegiate and national team coaches to see National League players...

Former US Youth Soccer player Gabriel Borges, just 19 years old, is already testing his soccer skills abroad in Croatia. Borges is currently playing and training with Dubrava Zagreb, a Third Division squad, and learning the technical touch-and-go style of soccer employed by the club. As a midfielder with Santa Clara Sporting 93 (CA-N), Borges won back-to-back California North state titles and was part of the squad that reached the semifinals of the 2011 Under-17 Boys Region IV Championships.

Applications for CCSL Winter Season 2013 are now being accepted. The winter season is offered for U14 through U19 boys and girls teams in areas where the regular fall CCSL season conflicts with High School soccer and for teams that wish to keep playing regular league games while preparing for Cal North State Cup or President’s Cup.

In keeping with its Vision Statement of “Inspired by the love of the game, our Cal North soccer community gives youth life experiences and character-building opportunities while keeping Kids First” California Youth Soccer Association has opened its Junior Cup Festival to all *U.S. Soccer affiliated teams. The Junior Cup Festival incorporates our Founders’ Cup, Association Cup, and Presidents Cup for both boys and girls teams in age groups U9 – U11 at one centralized location.

The Cal North/CYSA Team Manual is a useful resource about Cal North/CYSA, its programs, its operations, and the valuable people available to provide service to you and our membership. The Team Manual in conjunction with the new Cal North/CYSA web site (www.calnorth.org) contains a wealth of information, including our Constitution and Bylaws, a summary of our insurance coverage, rules of competition, coaching information, and advice for participation in youth soccer programs.

With the fall season starting Cal North wanted to take a minute to catch up with Scott, and see what's been going with Cal North partner iSoccer.

The US Youth Soccer Coaching Department has introduced the latest coaching resource with How to Write a Training Session Plan. The manual will help guide coaches in conducting the most efficient and effective training sessions for their team and compliments previous US Youth Soccer coaching resources such as the Player Development Model, Vision document and Skills School technical manual.

US Youth Soccer's monthly program, The US Youth Soccer Show, brings viewers in depth with US Youth Soccer events, players, coaches and more. The 30-minute show airs only FOX Soccer, official television partner of US Youth Soccer.

Registrar's Meeting: Date, Time, Location to be announced. The meeting is for ALL LEAGUE REGISTRARS. New registrars should complete Cal North form 1623 and send to the District Registrar. Paperwork Turnaround Time: Typically it will be 2 weeks. When the crunch comes it could go to 3 weeks.
