Kevin Crow is one of Northern California’s most accomplished soccer figures, distinguished by an exceptional career as a player, coach, administrator, and leader whose impact on the game spans more than four decades. Born in Berkeley, California, and raised in the Bay Area, Crow developed his passion for soccer through Ballistic United Soccer Club before graduating from Amador Valley High School, where he began a journey that would take him to the highest levels of the sport in the United States.
Crow attended San Diego State University from 1979 to 1982, earning All-American honors as a sophomore while starring for the Aztecs men's soccer program. His success at the collegiate level led to a professional career with the legendary San Diego Sockers, where he became one of the most decorated defenders in American soccer history. After signing with the Sockers in 1983, Crow competed in the final years of the North American Soccer League (NASL), earning First Team NASL All-Star honors in 1984 and helping the club capture the 1983–84 NASL Indoor Championship.
As the Sockers transitioned to the Major Indoor Soccer League (MISL), Crow cemented his reputation as one of the game’s elite defenders. During a remarkable professional career spanning more than a decade, he won six MISL Championships and was named MISL Defender of the Year five times (1985, 1988, 1989, 1991, and 1992). He was also selected to the All-MISL First Team on five occasions and helped establish the Sockers as one of the most dominant franchises in American soccer history. Crow continued his professional career through the Continental Indoor Soccer League before retiring in 1996.
On the international stage, Crow proudly represented the United States Men’s National Team, earning 13 caps between 1984 and 1988. He competed in two Olympic Games, representing the United States at the 1984 Summer Olympics in Los Angeles and the 1988 Summer Olympics in Seoul. He also participated in FIFA World Cup qualifying matches and represented the United States at the 1987 Pan American Games, contributing to a pivotal era in the growth of American soccer.
Following his playing career, Crow dedicated himself to developing the next generation of players and advancing the game throughout Northern California and beyond. He returned to his roots as Executive and Technical Director of Ballistic United Soccer Club, helping shape one of the region’s most respected youth soccer organizations. His leadership continued through his role as Director of Player Development and Competitions for Cal North, where he played a key role in expanding opportunities and pathways for young athletes. Crow has also served in leadership positions with various youth and professional soccer organizations, including U.S. Soccer.
Widely respected for his contributions both on and off the field, Crow has been recognized by numerous halls of fame, including the Tri-Valley Hall of Fame, Ballistic United Hall of Fame, Amador Valley High School Hall of Fame, San Diego State Hall of Fame, and the Indoor Soccer Hall of Fame. On May 1, he achieved one of the sport's highest honors when he was inducted into the National Soccer Hall of Fame, recognizing his extraordinary accomplishments as a player and his lasting impact on the game in the United States. In recognition of his significant contributions to soccer in Northern California and across the nation, Kevin Crow was also inducted into the Cal North Hall of Fame on September 20, 2025.
