Live Scan Without the Liability: Let Cal North Handle It for You

SACRAMENTO, CA — When it comes to Live Scan fingerprinting and Risk Management, the responsibility shouldn't fall entirely on your club or league to navigate alone.

At Cal North, we believe organizations should be able to focus on running their programs and serving their communities—not figuring out how to manage sensitive fingerprint records, arrest notifications, coach eligibility decisions, and difficult conversations.

That's why Cal North serves as your Custodian of Records and administers the Live Scan process for our member organizations.

We Handle the Live Scan Process for You

When your players register with Cal North, your organization gains access to our comprehensive Risk Management infrastructure.

Rather than asking your club to independently administer the fingerprinting process, Cal North handles the statewide Live Scan program on behalf of our membership.

      Our process includes:

Cal North serving as the Custodian of Records
Live Scan fingerprinting through Cal North's ORI
      Centralized processing and record management
      Ongoing subsequent-arrest notifications
      A dedicated Risk Management Team
Formal review, approval, and appeal processes
Direct communication with individuals when additional action or documentation is required

This means your local volunteers and administrators don't have to become Risk Management experts themselves.

Thousands of Live Scan Locations — Plus Mobile Fingerprinting

Through our partnership with Capital Live Scan, Cal North members have access to a network of thousands of approved Live Scan vendor locations, making it easy for coaches and volunteers to find a convenient location to complete their fingerprinting.

Cal North members also receive preferred Live Scan pricing through our program:

$25 per coach at an approved in-person Live Scan location
$25 per coach when participating in a coordinated mobile fingerprinting event

Clubs also have flexibility in how they handle the cost:

Clubs can purchase prepaid Live Scan codes for coaches to use when completing their Cal North fingerprinting.
Coaches can complete and pay for their Live Scan themselves, with clubs choosing to reimburse them afterward.
The process is handled online and is simple to administer—and our team is happy to walk your organization through it if you're unfamiliar with how it works.

Even better, clubs can coordinate mobile fingerprinting events through Capital Live Scan. Their team can come directly to your coaches meeting or another club event and fingerprint your coaches in one place, allowing you to knock out one of the most important Risk Management requirements for your entire group at once—while also receiving the reduced $20 per-coach mobile event rate.

We want completing Live Scan to be as accessible, affordable, and straightforward as possible for our members.

      Live Scan Isn't Just a One-Time Check

One of the most important advantages of our Live Scan program is that the safeguarding process doesn't simply end when a coach receives their initial clearance.

Because Cal North serves as the Custodian of Records, we can receive subsequent-arrest notifications for individuals fingerprinted under our program.

If information is reported that requires action, our Risk Management Team can step in, review the situation, and take the appropriate next steps through our established process.

Your organization isn't left wondering what to do next.

Let Cal North Handle the Difficult Conversations

Your coaches and volunteers are often your neighbors, friends, parents, board members, and members of the same community you serve. Risk Management decisions can therefore put local administrators in incredibly uncomfortable situations.

      That's where we come in.

When an individual requires further review, documentation, or an appeal, Cal North can administer that process at the state level.

Instead of putting your club in the middle, you can point to Cal North's statewide Risk Management requirements and processes.

We believe that's what a governing organization should do for its members: support you, provide infrastructure, and help shoulder the administrative burden that comes with operating a safe youth sports organization.

Considering Cal North for Your Players?

If your organization is currently responsible for administering its own Live Scan program—or you're affiliated with an organization that places that responsibility back on the individual club—we'd love to have a conversation.

Registering your players with Cal North means gaining a partner that takes Risk Management seriously and helps administer the process alongside you.

We'd be happy to walk you through how our Live Scan and Risk Management programs work, what Cal North handles on your behalf, and what affiliation could look like for your organization.
