Event Guide: Your complete guide to the 2025 Cal North District 5 Cup in Petaluma

      PETALUMA, Calif.  - Cal North is more than excited to be hosting the 2025 Cal North District 5 Cup for the first time in Petaluma, California on November 15-16. 

      Event Details
      This event will take place primarily at Petaluma Community Sports Fields, with games taking place at eight(8) other locations throughout Petaluma, Rohnert Park and Sonoma. We ask for teams, players and spectators to please be respectful of the various fields/complexes that will be used throughout the weekend. Petaluma Community Sports Fields will be having face painting, bouncy castles and so much more activities and vendors for the players and families to truly enjoy the District 5 Cup. 

      Check-in Procedures
      Teams will be required to check in on the field prior to match kick-off with referee of their game. Please use the roster template that was provided to all teams in previous emails for check-in. *does not need to come from GotSport.

      Playing format
      7v7 (U9 & U10) 
      9v9 (U12) 
      11v11 (U14 & U16)

      Preliminary Group Stage & Playoffs
      The preliminary group stage round of play will consist of three games for each team, 2 games on Saturday and 1 game on Sunday. After the preliminary round concludes on Sunday, playoffs will take place for some groups.

      Playoffs will consist of 1 final championship game for groups of 6 or 8 teams, with the top two teams from each bracket meeting in the final. For groups of 12 or more, there will be two semi-finals followed by a final, with the top 4 seeded teams based on tie-breakers meeting in the semi-finals. 

      Groups with only 4 teams will conclude after the preliminary group stage round and there will be no final. The team with the highest points total or winner of the tie-breakers will be crowned champion and the 2nd place team will be the finalist.

      Awards
      Awards will be given to tournament champions and finalists only.

      At the conclusion of the playoff round for each group on Sunday. The champion and finalist teams should make their way to the designated award ceremony area for an awards presentation.

      Champions will receive a medal and a team trophy and finalists will receive a medal. Finalists will be presented their awards first and allowed time to take a few pictures on the stage, followed by the champions.

      Parking
      Parking will be available and will be free of charge. 

      Restrooms
      Restrooms will be available at various sports complexes and fields. 

      Prohibited Items
      No dogs or other animals will be allowed on the premises. No food or drink on the turf.

      Alcohol and weapons are strictly prohibited at this event. Any team found with either alcohol or weapons risks disqualification from the tournament altogether.
