Northern California (June 14-27, 2024)Every summer, teams from across the country play for a national title, but must first go through the rigorous challenges faced at the regional level.

This summer, Cal North had a total of 18 teams across two US Youth Soccer competitions in two different locations in the quest for national recognition.

We kicked things off in Salt Lake City, Utah where six clubs and seven teams represented Cal North at the 2024 US Youth Soccer Far West Presidents Cup from June 14th thru June 18th.

The US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup is designed for those teams seeking additional challenges to play against teams of similar abilities for a national title. The Presidents Cup provides a progressive, competitive experience to teams that might not otherwise get the opportunity to participate in a series of unique experiences highlighting competition, camaraderie and community from the state to regional to national levels of US Youth Soccer.

In Far West Presidents Cup, one of seven teams moved on, that being Silicon Valley Eagles 07B PSG I at the U17 Boys age group. They had a tough game in the semis, falling to eventual Champions in Strikers FC B2007 T1 from Montana.

Simultaneously along with the Far West Presidents Cup, the U12 Far West Regional Championships took place due to there being no national advancement for this age group. Cal North had two teams represent Northern California at the highest level of competition for the U12 age groups being Lamorinda SC on the girls side and JASA RWC Jrs. on the boys side. Ironically, both teams reached the regional final, but JASA RWC Jrs. would be the only Cal North team this summer to lift a regional title with their dramatic win over Seattle United from Washington.

Recap: JASA RWC Jrs. win 2024 US Youth Soccer Far West Regional Championships

The U13-U19 Far West Regional Championships took place a few days later from June 21st thru 27th in Honolulu, Hawai'i.

The US Youth Soccer National Championships, presented by New York Life, cap a yearlong series of competitions for boys and girls teams in multiple age brackets as teams earn their way from the top teams in their state to the regional championship tournaments. US Youth Soccer state champions and selected wildcard teams through US Youth Soccer regional leagues in most age groups are eligible to compete in one of four US Youth Soccer Regional Championships. The champions in the 13U through 19U age brackets from each regional event converge in July for the US Youth Soccer National Championships presented by New York Life.

Annually, the US Youth Soccer National Championships, presented by New York Life, provides the nation’s top collegiate coaches with the premier stage to identify and scout the most coveted players in the country.

Nine teams from Cal North were also in representation with five of those moving on to the quarterfinal stage. Only two teams from the quarterfinals moved on to the semifinals, those being PV United 06/07G ECRL and SF Aftershocks 11G Black. This marked the first time in four years (post COVID-19 pandemic) without a Cal North team in a regional final at the U13-U19 Far West Regional Championships.
