SACRAMENTO, Calif. – Cal North is pleased to announce that staff applications are now open for the 2025-2026 Olympic Development Program (ODP) season. Coaches and team administrators are invited to apply for leadership roles across three key player development programs: the Young Olympians Program (YOP), the traditional ODP Pools, and the newly launched College Pathway Program (CPP).
The application deadline is May 26, 2025.
ODP Staff Positions Available
Cal North seeks qualified, committed individuals for the following positions:
- Head Coaches and Assistant Coaches (YOP, ODP, CPP)
- Minimum Qualifications
- Head Coaches - USSF "B" License ("A" Preferred)
- Assistant Coaches - USSF "C" License
- An ideal Cal North ODP coach is a student of the game and a team player—committed to growth, collaboration, and excellence. They create a fun yet challenging environment, inspire player development, communicate effectively, and bring strong organizational and professional skills to every session and event.
- Minimum Qualifications
- State Team Managers
- Managers should be organized, proactive, and team-oriented. Prior administrative or team management experience is a plus. Travel support staff may not be related to team players without prior approval.
Applicants should be passionate about player development, team leadership, and high-performance environments. Staff will work collaboratively under the direction of the ODP Managing Director to uphold the mission and standards of Cal North ODP.
Program Overviews and Staff Responsibilities
Young Olympians Program (YOP) – For players born in 2016 and 2015, YOP provides foundational training and competition across 10 scheduled Play Dates. Staff will focus on player engagement, technical skill-building, and creating a fun, structured learning environment. Coaches should be organized, energetic, and committed to fostering early player development. This program does not involve tryouts, and staffing levels will be determined by registration numbers and availability of qualified coaches.
Cal North ODP State Pools – Coaches in this core program are responsible for talent identification, player evaluation and selection, and development throughout the ODP cycle. Key duties include managing tryouts, running advanced training sessions, preparing players for regional and national competition, and upholding the culture, expectations, and standards of the ODP program. All players born in 2009-2014 must attend at least one tryout session (additional guidelines regarding the recommendation process is available on the ODP Tryouts page).
College Pathway Program (CPP) – Introducing a new program for the 2007 and 2008 age groups, CPP focuses on recruiting exposure and college readiness. Staff will lead showcase event preparation, guide athletes and families through the recruitment process, and deliver college-specific training plans. Coaches with college or high-performance coaching experience are encouraged to apply. Automatic spots will be offered to 2007 and 2008 State ODP Pool Players but other interested players may participate in a training session with the potential to be offered a spot by the Head Coach.
