NORTHERN CALIFORNIA (July 17, 2026)― Dear Cal North Members,
On behalf of the Cal North Board of Directors, we would like to share an important update regarding player registration fees.
Over the past several months, the Board has undertaken a thoughtful, comprehensive, and data-driven review of our player fee structure. This included evaluating the current financial landscape, the needs of our membership, and the long-term sustainability of our organization.
Our player registration fees have remained unchanged for more than a decade. Throughout the challenges of the COVID-19 pandemic and the years that followed, the Board made a conscious decision to keep fees stable in order to support our clubs, leagues, and local organizations as they worked to rebuild and continue serving young athletes in their communities.
Now, five years after the pandemic, the Board once again revisited the topic. While there are certainly financial pressures facing all organizations, the Board also recognizes that many of our members continue to navigate rising costs and an ever changing youth sports landscape. After careful consideration, the Board determined that now is not the right time to place an additional financial burden on our membership.
During today's Board of Directors meeting, held on Thursday, July 16, the Board unanimously approved the 2026–2027 operating budget and also voted not to increase Cal North player registration fees for the 2027–2028 seasonal year.
This decision provides our clubs and leagues with ample notice as they prepare their own budgets and registration plans for the upcoming seasons. We hope this announcement provides peace of mind and allows you to continue focusing on what matters most, serving players, families, coaches, referees, and your local soccer communities.
We remain committed to operating responsibly while continuing to invest in programs and services that benefit our members. We are grateful for the leadership of our Board of Directors and the dedication of our staff, who work every day to support the game across Northern California.

Cal North is the original youth soccer organization in Northern California, who has served generations of players, coaches, leagues, and clubs with storied histories since 1969. Cal North is a member of a much larger soccer community, and as a member, you are also a member of this world community. Players register to play with one of the more than 200 clubs or leagues formed by Cal North. Through affiliation, our leagues and clubs are also members of US Youth Soccer, US Soccer, and US Futsal. FIFA serves as the international governing body for soccer and US Soccer has been a member since 1913. Together, local, national and international organizations form a family of support for the young soccer players of Cal North.
