Former professional goalkeeper and nationally recognized goalkeeper educator brings extensive experience in player development, coaching education and goalkeeper programming to Cal North ODP
SACRAMENTO, Calif. — [Aug. 25, 2026] — Cal North Soccer is pleased to announce Casey Clark as the organization's Director of Goalkeeping for the 2026–2027 Olympic Development Program (ODP) cycle.
A former professional goalkeeper, coach, educator and soccer executive, Clark brings more than 15 years of experience developing goalkeepers and building goalkeeper programs at the youth, collegiate, professional and national levels.
Clark has served as the Director of Goalkeeping for Cal North ODP since 2024, where he has built and led the program's goalkeeper department. In his expanded role, he will continue to establish a comprehensive goalkeeper development pathway while supporting ODP players, coaches and families throughout Northern California.
“Goalkeeping is a unique position that requires technical ability, tactical understanding, confidence, resilience and strong decision-making,” Clark said. “My goal is to create an environment where goalkeepers are challenged, supported and given the tools to understand their position and continue developing at every stage of their journey.”
Since joining Cal North ODP in 2024, Clark has built a dedicated goalkeeper department designed to provide consistency, structure and purpose across the program.
His responsibilities include overseeing goalkeeper curriculum, player identification and evaluation, monthly training modules, staff recruitment and mentorship, player feedback, and the integration of goalkeeper development into the overall ODP technical pathway.
Clark has also introduced classroom education, virtual learning and film-review resources designed to help goalkeepers, families and coaches better understand the position and the development process.
That work reflects Clark's belief that goalkeeper development extends well beyond the training field.
Clark's understanding of goalkeeping is shaped by his own experience as a professional player.
He competed professionally in the USL Championship, Major Arena Soccer League and USL League Two, gaining experience at multiple levels of the professional game.
His playing career also included collegiate success at Doane University, where he became the school's first soccer player to be named NAIA National Defensive Player of the Week. He was also a five-time GPAC Conference Player of the Week and earned multiple conference honors.
Throughout his playing career, Clark developed an appreciation for the leadership responsibilities that come with being a goalkeeper. That experience continues to influence his approach to coaching.
Clark's experience now spans nearly every level of the player pathway.
In addition to his work with Cal North ODP, he currently serves as an Assistant Coach and Goalkeeper Coach with the Stanislaus State men's and women's soccer programs, where he supports goalkeeper development through training design, film review, match preparation, player mentorship, recruiting support and program operations.
He also serves as Director of Goalkeeping and Youth Academy Programs for Academica Juniors and Turlock Sports Park, overseeing goalkeeper development, curriculum, staff support, family communication and youth academy programming.
During his first season with Stanislaus State, Clark helped contribute to a historic campaign that included a school record for shutouts, a conference championship, a No. 1 national ranking, the program's first NCAA Sweet 16 appearance, an All-America goalkeeper and Coaching Staff of the Year recognition.
His experience across youth, ODP, college and professional soccer provides Clark with a broad perspective on the different stages of goalkeeper development and the pathways available to players.

A major component of Clark's work is coach development.
He has designed goalkeeper training programs, developed curriculum, recruited and mentored goalkeeper coaches, and created educational resources for coaches working with goalkeepers at different stages of development.
His philosophy recognizes that goalkeeper development is most effective when coaches have a common language and understanding of the position.
As Director of Goalkeeping, Clark will work with Cal North ODP coaches to promote consistency in goalkeeper training and evaluation while helping team coaches better integrate goalkeepers into the overall team environment.
Goalkeepers occupy a unique role within the game. They are the final line of defense, but they are also increasingly expected to contribute to buildup, possession, communication, tactical organization and decision-making.
Clark's approach reflects that evolution. His goalkeeper curriculum emphasizes technical development while incorporating tactical awareness, game understanding, communication, decision-making and psychological development.
Through training, competition, film review and education, the goal is to give Cal North goalkeepers a more complete understanding of their role.
“We want young goalkeepers to see the position as an opportunity, not simply a responsibility,” Clark said. “There are so many ways a goalkeeper can influence a game. When players understand that and have the confidence to embrace it, that's when development becomes really exciting.”
As Cal North begins the 2026–2027 ODP cycle, Clark will continue working closely with the organization's technical leadership to strengthen goalkeeper identification, development and coaching across the program.
