Dr. Peter Zopfi is a distinguished physician, community leader, and lifelong advocate for youth soccer whose impact on the game has spanned more than four decades. Born and raised in Napa, California, Dr. Zopfi graduated from Vintage High School in 1975 before continuing his education at the University of San Francisco and later the University of California, Davis, where he earned his degree in 1980. A dedicated student-athlete, he played goalkeeper for the men's soccer teams at both institutions, laying the foundation for a lifelong passion for the sport.
After completing his education, Dr. Zopfi and his wife, Kim, returned to Fairfield to build their lives and raise their five children in the Fairfield-Suisun community they proudly call home. Their commitment to service and youth development led them to become deeply involved in local soccer, coaching at Armijo and Rodriguez High Schools and contributing to organizations such as Fairfield-Suisun Youth Soccer League and Solano Soccer Club.
Throughout his soccer career, Dr. Zopfi has served as a coach, administrator, and national leader. Holding coaching licenses up to the prestigious USSF "A" License level, he has coached at the club, high school, and Olympic Development Program (ODP) levels. His leadership extended beyond the sidelines as he took on some of the most influential roles in American youth soccer, including Chairman of Cal North (CYSA-North), Chairman of US Youth Soccer, and member of the U.S. Soccer Board of Directors.
Widely respected for his dedication to player development, community engagement, and the growth of the game, Dr. Zopfi has helped shape opportunities for generations of young athletes across California and the United States. In recognition of his extraordinary contributions to soccer and youth sports, he was inducted into the Cal North Hall of Fame on September 20, 2025.
Today, Dr. Zopfi's legacy extends far beyond the field, reflecting a lifetime commitment to leadership, service, family, and creating opportunities for young people through the beautiful game.
