Cal North Founders’ Cup competition is established exclusively for Recreational teams that play in Cal North recreational leagues. Founders’ Cup is a fabulous opportunity for recreational teams to enter and compete in an advancement-style tournament.  Founders’ Cup offers competition in the U10, U12, U14, U16 and U19 age groups.  All Cal North Recreational teams are encouraged to enter Cal North Founders’ Cup.  Because Recreational teams often play against only other teams from their home league, the teams’ rosters may not have been validated for travel.   If a team does not already have a roster and player passes that have been authorized by the District Registrar, it is important to check with their League Registrars well in advance of the Founders’ Cup application deadline in order to ensure their roster and player passes will be reviewed and authorized for Cup play and in time to obtain the district-authorized roster that is required for the cup application.  The registrar can guide the team through the requirements for obtaining their member passes in time for the Founders’ Cup games. In the U10 age group only there is an open bracket for teams that are not members of Cal North but are members of other USSF affiliated organizations (i.e. AYSO, US Club Soccer, etc.) The U10 teams will participate as part of the Cal North Junior Cup Festival. AssCupSm Cal North Association Cup offers entry-level cup competition for Cal North’s Competitive teams in the U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16 and U19 age groups. Teams that participate in playing leagues for Silver Elite, Silver, Bronze, Copper or Recreational teams are eligible to apply for Association Cup however it is recommended for teams designated as Competitive on their official Cal North team roster. Association Cup championship teams do not advance beyond the Cal North state-level competition. Teams that wish to compete for the chance to advance to regional-level and/or national level competition should consider entering Cal North Presidents Cup. U14 Association Cup takes place in winter therefore U14 Competitive-level teams players on their roster who also participate in their high school’s winter soccer season may wish to consider the Cal North Presidents Cup as an alternative to Association Cup.  For the first time this season Association Cup will offer brackets for U15 teams.  U17 and U18 teams have the option of entering the U19 age groups of Association Cup or can opt to apply to the Presidents Cup U17 or U18 divisions. In the U9, U10 and U11 age groups only there are open brackets for teams that are not members of Cal North but are members of other USSF affiliated organizations (i.e. US Club Soccer).  The U9, U10 and U11 teams will participate as part of the Cal North Junior Cup Festival.
Cal North Presidents Cup is offered in the U12 – U18 age groups and was created specifically for mid-level Competitive teams. A team that is the second or third tier competitive team from a club or league may find Presidents Cup rather than State Cup to be the cup of choice. Any team that has demonstrated a high-level of success in Association Cup in previous seasons or that competes in the Gold or Silver Elite Divisions of CCSL and/or other comparable Cal North playing league or tournaments, the Cal North Presidents Cup is a recommended option. Teams should consider the option of playing in Presidents Cup if they are not quite ready for the State Cup competition, if they are seeking competition a step up from Association Cup or if they wish to play in a competition is a qualifier for Presidents Cup Regionals. U14 teams with players who participate in their high school winter soccer season may find the Presidents Cup to be the best option for their team because U14 Presidents Cup play begins after the March 15th CIF exclusionary period. Presidents Cup also creates the opportunity for Competitive U17 and U18 teams that are not ready for State Cup competition to enter in the single year age groups that are not offered in Association Cup. Teams that advanced to the prior season’s Cal North State Cup quarterfinals are not eligible to enter Cal North Presidents Cup and we recommend they select State Cup as their Cal North Cup option. Currently the U13 through U17 Cal North Presidents Cup is a qualifier for US Youth Soccer Region IV Presidents Cup competition** which will be held in Idaho in June 2013.  Region IV champions in the U14 through U17 age groups** will advance to US Youth Soccer Presidents Cup Nationals, which will be hosted in Kirkwood, Delaware in July 2013. StateCupSM Cal North State Cup is a competition geared toward the highest level competitive team and offers competition in the U9, U10, U11, U12, U13, U14, U15, U16, U17, U18 and U19 age groups.  Competitive teams that compete in the Premier or Gold Divisions of CCSL or teams successfully competing at comparable level of play in other Cal North playing leagues should consider applying for Cal North State Cup.  Teams from a league or club that fields multiple Competitive-level teams in an age group should consider entering State Cup if they are the club’s top-level team in that age group.  In the U9, U10 and U11 age groups only there are open brackets for teams that are not members of Cal North but are members of other USSF affiliated organizations (i.e. US Club Soccer).  The U9, U10 and U11 teams will participate as part of the Cal North Junior Cup Festival. State Cup is a qualifier for the US Youth Soccer National Championship series. Cal North State Cup champions in the U12-U19 age groups will go on to represent Cal North in the US Youth Soccer Region IV Championships.**  Winners of the U-14 through U-19 age groups at the Regional Championships advance to the US Youth Soccer National Championships**, which is widely considered to be the nation’s premier youth soccer event. The Regionals will be held in Honolulu in June 2013 with the designated winners advancing to US Youth Soccer National Championships in Overland Park Kansas in July 2013.
