Three Cal North Teams Competed for National Championship Titles

Congratulations to the U15 Girls Foothill MVLA Mercury Black, U16 Girls Foothill MVLA Lightning, and the U17 Girls Central Valley Chilipeppers, as they competed for a 2012 US Youth Soccer National Championship in Rock Hill, South Carolina.

7/29/12 Day Five Recap

BRYC 95 Elite (VA) claimed the Under-16 Girls National Championship 1-0 over MVLA Lightning (CA-N), becoming the first team to score on the Californians this week and upending MVLA’s hopes to regain the championship they won in 2010.

7/27/12 Day Three Recap

Cal North had their most successful day on the field as the three teams went undefeated

U17 Girls CV Chilipeppers played Cal South’s National League representatives, Legends FC 94, to a scoreless tie and ended the tournament on a high note.

U15 MVLA Mercury Black defeated CRUSA/FC from Pennsylvania East (the Region I Champions) by a score of 3-2 but it was not enough to propel them into the championship match. Mercury’s performance ensured a third place finish just out of reach of the final game.

U16 Girls MVLA Lightning gave a convincing performance with a 4-0 victory over the Region 1 Champion, BRYC 95 Elite of Virginia. Lightning grabbed the top seed and will be the home team in a rematch against BRYC in the championship game at 7:30 AM on Sunday.

We’re all rooting for Lightning to come home with their second national championship in three years!

7/16/12 Day Two Recap

We had a better showing in today’s prelims as both MVLA Lightning and MVLA Mercury Black won their games.

Mercury Black defeated the U15 Girls Region III Champion from North Texas, Sting 97, by a 1-0 score.

Lightning won their second consecutive game by easily handling Ohio-North’s Region III Champs, Cleveland United White, in a 5-0 Under 16 girls match.

Unfortunately the U17 Girls Chilipeppers lost 0-3 to Region I Champions, VSA Heat Blue, from Virginia.

Fingers crossed for success on day three and that we have teams in championship games on Saturday and Sunday.

7/25/12 Day One Recap

We had two losses and a win on day one at National Championships

U15G MVLA Mercury Black lost 0-1 to Cal South’s Legends FC (a National League qualifier)

U16G MVLA Lightning won 1-0 over Kansas City Missouri’s KCFC/Futura Academy (a National League qualifier)

U17G Central Valley Chilipeppers lost 0-2 to Team Chicago Academy Botafogo from Illinois (the Region III Champion)

The weather reports show it being hot and humid
