Up first was the Cal North’s Far West Regional League Wild Card the MVLA Lighting and Cal South’s Beach Futbol Club a sister team from FWRL that also advanced to FWR as a wild card team. Lighting came out flat and just couldn't get going through the first half, about 8 minutes in Beach FC scored on a nice through ball to make it 1-0, then later in the half on a free kick restart just outside the box Beach FC put another in the back of the net to make it 2-0 at half. MVLA came out much sharper to start the 2nd half, they pushed for the next 10 minutes and it really looked like the game would be what we expected, then 12 minutes into the 2nd half Beach FC scored again and MVLA just didn't get it going again resulting in a final score of 3-0 in favor of Beach FC.

Just before the end of regular time Inter had a goal called back due to offside. 2 minutes into stoppage Utah had a corner kick and put 11 players in the box. Their pressure paid off as they scored after a loose ball scramble in the box. Undaunted Santa Clara took the ensuing kickoff and 10 seconds later scored on a 22-yard bending shot into the upper right corner to win the game 2-1.
