The 5-day tournament featured 130 teams that had won their respective State Presidents Cup events from 14 different US Youth Soccer State Associations - Alaska, Arizona, California-North, California-South, Colorado, Hawaii, Idaho, Montana, Nevada, New Mexico, Oregon, Utah, Washington and Wyoming.

Cal North teams competing in this tournament qualified by winning the Cal North Presidents Cup or as a wild card entry by participating in the Cal North Presidents Cup. These teams also participated in a Cal North playing league; CCSL or sanctioned Cal North district playing league as per US Youth Soccer policy.

The Knockout Stage of the event saw fourteen Cal North teams compete in quarterfinal matches in their respected age groups. The games were action packed and intense. Unfortunately after the dust settled only the U-17 boys Porterville United and the U-13 boys Santa Cruz Sharks 00 Blue advanced to the semifinals.

The U13 Santa Cruz Sharks started the semifinals off with a 2-0 win over FC Nova Black of Idaho. They advanced to the finals Sunday where they faced the Hawaiian Gardens Eagles of Cal South. Santa Cruz converted a PK in the 33 minute to take a 1-0 lead.  Cal South tied the match in the 60th minute on a beautiful. Tied 1-1 at the end of regulation the Sharks and the Eagles head into Overtime.  Cal South HG Eagles scored in OT to take a 2-1 victory over Cal North and move on to Nationals U13 boy’s action from President Cup. While the OT loss is disappointing, the Santa Cruz Sharks have had an extremely successful season should be very proud of their accomplishments! Cal North board and staff congratulate the players, coaches, and parents on a great season.

Portville

Next up were the U-17 Porterville United boys. After winning a nail biter 3-2 on PK's in the quarterfinals, the boys faced a strong Elite FC B96 team from Cal South in their U-17 semifinals. Cal South Elite FC took the early lead over Porterville United 1-0 halfway through first half. Just before half Cal South knocked in a goal off a header that hit the cross bar to extend their lead over Cal North Porterville 2-0. Two quick second half goals made it 4-0. The boys worked hard and gave it their all but fell short 6-2 in the end.

As four time Cal North Presidents Cup champions, Porterville United has two quarterfinal and a semifinal finish at the Region IV Presidents Cup Championships.  The players, coaches, and parents of Porterville United have always represented Cal North in a manner we can all be proud of and we thank you... Congratulations on another SUCCESSFUL season.
